To become a community member/key-holder or to learn about volunteering, come by the garden on any Sunday afternoon from April through mid-November, between 1 and 4 PM to speak with a gardener and get a key.
GUIDELINES FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS / KEY-HOLDERS

These guidelines apply equally to all key-holders. Key-holders not adhering to the guidelines may be asked to return their key.
- Membership for one year is $20 ($10 for seniors) which entitles you to a key to the garden.
- The garden is open only during daylight hours.
- The front gate must be pulled closed and locked when entering and leaving the garden, except for Sundays between 1 and 4 PM when the garden is open to the public.
- A key-holder must be at least 18 years old and may use the garden only for activities appropriate to visiting a garden. the garden is a quiet space; please maintain it as such.
- Please stay on the wood-chip paths. No one may enter a plot, walk on the stepping-stones between plots or remove items from a plot without permission of the gardener who tends the plot.
No pets
No radios or playing of music (unless using headphones).
No private parties
No sunbathing.
No bare feet
No smoking
No alcohol
CHILDREN
under 18 years of age must be accompanied and closely supervised by an adult
may not run in the garden
may not use the garden for activities inappropriate to visiting a garden
may not feed the fish or enter the shed without adult supervision
may not enter garden plots, pick plants, or walk on stepping stones between plots without permission
School, day-care or play groups may not be brought into the garden without written request and permission beforehand.
You may download and print out an application to become a community member/key-holder (PDF format). Please note: This application must be returned in person to the gardener on duty on any Sunday, from April through mid-November, between 1 and 4 PM at the Lotus Garden.
Key-holders are requested to do their fair share when it is obvious that something needs to be done, such as picking up paper or other debris that has blown into the garden. Additionally, key-holders are responsible for trying to notify the garden if they are aware of a serious problem, such as a broken lock or fallen tree, etc. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in making the garden a safe, enjoyable experience for all visitors! |
